I’m back in my office at work! After a water “incident” (disaster?) in our work building in July, repairs needed to be done, and we were only able to reinhabit the building on Monday. I missed my office and colleagues so much! Grateful to be back.

Ahh my desk (even if there is currently a yellow glow through my window).
2. I’ve been walking every day this week! As part of Cool Bloggers Walking Club, I’ve been enjoying lunchtime walks at the lake and one day the forest. Gee I feel better when I’ve gone for a brisk walk outside.

One of my walks was through a colony of flying foxes! They are so loud even as they sleep overhead. I kind of love these furry little batty guys.
3. I’ve finished Meditations for Mortals by Oliver Burkeman. Loved it. Definitely read it slower than usual (over about 10 days?) though not over 4 weeks as recommended. Will definitely go back through it immediately though and read again those chapters that resonated. I’ve definitely been feeling more relaxed and accepting of my limits this week (and the messiness of life etc).

4. On the same topic, I’m enjoying Cal Newport interview Oliver Burkeman in depth on this podcast episode just released, haven’t finished listening yet but great to hear them discuss their perspectives on these topics.
5. After complaining about E needing to do Show and Tell last week, she won an award at school this week for it! - her great science explanation (of how a coloured speakers emits colours). I managed to come to her assembly where she got the award and she was so thrilled.

6. I baked a beef mince pot pie on Thursday. I’ve been randomly watching YouTube videos about 1800s cooking (Early American for anyone interested). They don’t talk, they just cook original recipes, to the lovely sound of a crackling fire. It’s made me both grateful for our modern facilities, and also appreciative of the meditative qualities of slow cooking. So on Thursday I had everything in the fridge/freezer for meat pie (including home made beef stock), so I made this pie and it was delicious! Go me!

Filling was onion, mushrooms, garlic, carrots, beef mince, stock, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce. So simple. So good!
And that’s a wrap! Have you done or enjoyed any fun things this week? Have a great weekend all.
That is awesome that E won an award for her show and tell! Paul has something similar for his show and tell - it has to be educational. He hasn’t been on deck yet but I have been asking him what other kids have done. But he doesn’t seem to remember much. School is quite a black box for him! He’s a bright kid but can’t recall much from his days!!
My trip to visit my sister was definitely the highlight of the last week or so. I am traveling for work this week and feel a bit meh about this trip. I think I am just burned out on work travel.
