I’m on a short, solo trip this weekend, visiting for my brother’s 50th celebration. Al and the kids are visited his parents last night, and I headed off to the airport at lunchtime Saturday,

The flight was delayed an hour, but definitely not so bad when your travelling without kids and had no plans on arrival except to hang out with my brother and SIL and my parents, as they were travelling down too but on a different flight. I had some lunch, I did a bit of writing and reading, and then it was time to board.

Very relaxing afternoon and evening, my SIL cooked us a slow cooked beef stew and it was delicious. There was wine, and cheese, and great chats with lots of laughter. They live in a lovely, spacious city apartment and it was fun to look out their balcony windows and see the lights of the city. Very different to our usual evening views. I then retired early at about 10, and slept until after 6.

It’s now Sunday morning and everyone else is still asleep while I sip on coffee and listen to the city sounds outside, all cosy wrapped in a doona. The early morning quiet is my favourite time of day. This morning I’m going to meet some of my oldest, dearest school friends for breakfast, and meet my friends new baby. Then on to my brothers 50th lunch in the private dining room of a lovely pub. Honestly looking forward to a wonderful day ahead.

I had to bring my winter woolies because it’s chilly outside (top of 13 degrees Celsius today) but it’s a novelty so I don’t mind. A chance to wear a jacket and scarf! And take a tram.

How’s your weekend treating you?
