Hello from the Gold Coast QLD! I am at a research conference and it’s been busy but fun.

Just a quick update because I’ve got to get ready and head to the final day of sessions, but I arrived on Wednesday morning (myself and a colleague drove 3 hours south to arrive by 9!), and have spent a lot of time at the conference, but also:
Gone on a long walk yesterday morning along the coast. Such beautiful scenery:

Finished with a iced latte and chocolate croissant. Breakfast of champions!
Also last night we had the conference dinner at a local surf club. Didn’t get photos at the dinner, but here’s a selfie on my way out the door.

The night was fun chatting and networking with colleagues, I definitely made some new connections and strengthened some existing ones too so it was a win! Unfortunately the food was not great (which I probably care about too much haha).
But overall a good night.
Now it’s day 3, with a full day of sessions coming up (including one I’m chairing), plus then a long drive back this evening. Wish me luck!
Hope everyone has had a good week!
It's "conference on the beach" time I guess! I was lucky enough to see Lisa and Birchie when they were here for their conferences. Your location looks like Florida except for the trees.
Hope your drive back went well!
It's conference week! I'm currently at the same site where Lisa's conference was. We just finished a long day and are headed into a long dinner. The food is pretty decent, and the presentations have been interesting..
I just finished up a conference yesterday! They can be really fun but also really tiring. Like on Monday I was out until midnight socializing with sales people. Then my day started at 7:15 on Tuesday and I was out until 9:30 that night and moderated three panels that day. I was so happy to return home yesterday, although I miss the heat and humidity of Florida!
We did a long weekend on the Gold Coast when I studied abroad in Australia. It was a beautiful area and we did a really cool rainforest hike. There was a really large group of us so it was kind of a hard thing to coordinate but a really fun outing for everyone.
