Weekend recap and a daily blog plan

I've decided I'd like to blog daily for a little while. I think one of the reasons I blog so rarely is because I feel like my blog posts need to be on the longer side. I'm hoping by blogging daily for a while, I can practice some short and sweet posts, that can build up the habit.

So, here is a quick weekend recap. It was a low key one, which was very appreciated. It included:
O fell off some play equipment last week and hurt his wrist, so we had to take it a bit easy with his activities. We don't think its broken (no swelling, bruising, or extreme pain), likely a mild sprain, but he isn't really using it, so two handed activities are off the cards. While Al too E to rockclimbing Saturday morning, I took O to the library and we had a lovely, calm time there, playing Chess (well, a hybrid version where we followed some rules but not others to keep it simple), reading books together, and building some Lego. He and I then did the grocery shopping and he was SO well behaved. My little helper. Gee I'm loving 5 year old O.
I continued decluttering - this time our piles and piles of papers! We now have art folios for each kid for their artwork "highlights", and the rest goes in a tub which can later be recycled. (They do SO much drawing right now). We also have an expandable file holder for our important documents, and a memory box for photos, cards, and other things we want to keep for now. It was satisfying to have some systems in place, and a neat cupboard for all our papers.

Paper cupboard organised As a family we have been enjoying watching Tom and Jerry. O absolutely loves it, belly laughing at their antics, and the rest of us don't mind it, and its been fun to watch episodes together. The animations are really impressive for the late 1940s! And slapstick comedy never gets old haha.
I had a couple of good sessions of writing over the weekend. Sunday afternoon after Al got back from work, I went to a local cafe/bakery that is open until 6pm every day (which is rare where I live), and got a coffee and wrote some of my novel. I'll write an update of my novel progress later in the week.
I did some gardening yesterday in the sunshine. It was lovely to pull weeds, clear fallen branches and leaves, and use the air blower to clear all our paths, while the kids played outside. E ran around, while O played Playdough on our outdoor table.
OK in the spirit of short posts, I'll stop there. This coming week is busy one - including a concert/choir in Brisbane on Wednesday night, and teaching an evening class on Thursday evening, and a parent teacher interview for E this evening. As well as normal life. Should be fun though. Here we go...
How was everyone's weekend? Do you have a show the whole family likes to watch?

I'm happy to know I'll be getting more posts from you regularly! I've done NaBloPoMo a few years in a row and I always try my best to keep my posts short and sweet, but I, too, struggle with wanting my posts to be long!
Poor O - I'm glad it's just a mild strain and that you were able to have a little helper with you!
My boys love Tom & Jerry, too, especially Will! They boys get a 30 minute show before bedtime. They use to pick something together but now they can't agree so they each get 15 minutes of a show. Will's choice changes often but Paul always wants to watch "Beastmaster" on Netflix which is sort of a ninja warrior kind of show. I actually enjoy watching that with them. Otherwise I read while they watch a show. Another show we all enjoy is Bluey, except for the Asparagus episode - they are not allowed to pick it because Phil and I both hate it!!
Bummer about O's wrist but it worked out nicely to each have 1:1 time with a kid.…
I didn't grow up watching Tom and Jerry, but one of my BILs LOVES it. So anytime I see a clip I think of him and watching it when I was a teen and he was an adult and he would be chuckling so hard.
I was just thinking about cartoons the other day. My kids didn't grow up on Saturday morning cartoons like I did and it makes me... sad. I LOVED watching Looney Tunes as a kid. A highlight of my week for sure.
It's so fun when kids are at an age where it's fun to be around them. O sounds delightful at 5 <3 Hope his wrist is feeling better soon.
