We bought a car! An electric vehicle - (BYD Atto 3) I picked it up on Wednesday! This is actually the first new car I've ever owned, and it is shiny and fun. It also drives SO smoothly, has lots of power, and is generally a great drive. I'm still adjusting to the need to charge it at home, how long it takes etc, but that's also a bit of a fun novelty. For years Al and I had discussed a dream of owning a Tesla, but for so long the price tag made it out of reach (as well as Australia's lack of infrastructure for EVs), but now there are so many affordable options (lots of tax breaks for EVs right now!) and charging stations at service stations and shopping centres.

We bought a fridge! This one is less exciting, but our VERY OLD workhorse of a fridge has been dying a slow death for a couple of weeks (making load popping noises, being lukewarm in temperature - never a good sign). So we have a new one coming tomorrow, which is basically just the 2025 version of our old one (white Westinghouse). We did explore buying one second hand (I've actually never owned a new fridge), but without a trailer or ute it would be very difficult to transport it, plus get rid of the old one. So we decided to go new this time.

This is off the website- as you can see we aren’t “fridge” people
E is enjoying acrobatics (acro - basically just gymnastic but without all the equipment - its held in a dance studio). She's had three classes and is doing well (she's very flexible so I have no doubt she'll be doing the splits before long - something I never achieved!). I'm really glad she has found another activity she enjoys, and one that involves fitness and coordination - Scouts is great but its not very athletic, so this is a nice complement. The other advantage - unlike Scouts which has lots of weekend activities, this is the same hour every week.
E and I are slowly reading through a beautiful illustrated edition of Harry Potter. E has never seen the movie before either, so its all totally new to her, which is very fun. She is loving it. We read a few pages each night, and we both really enjoy the time together. E talks about Harry Potter all the time, loves Hermione's character, and added bonus we now have a clear costume choice for Book Week in a few weeks. Great timing!

I'm on a little bit of a health kick. After many weeks of unhealthy eating, drinking and not much exercise, I was feeling definitely not my best, so it was time for a reset. I've cut down on junk and processed snack foods, alcohol (this had snuck up from an occasional drink to something less healthy), and am getting out for a walk every day. I'm also doing a slightly more involved skincare routine (more moisturiser, better cleanser). And I'm feeling better already!
Happy Sunday everyone!

Your new car is awesome!! I would love to get an EV. We tried to get a plug in hybrid but it was impossible to get one. We even tried working with a car broker to no avail. In hindsight we should have gotten on a wait list at a dealer but oh well. Instead we got a hybrid.
A new fridge is not a fun purchase but it sucks to have a dying fridge!! We went through that in 2020 and it was awful!!
way to go on the new fitness kick. It can feel so good to reset habits!!
I feel like life is a constant cycle of resets which could feel a bit discouraging, but I appreciate the cyclical nature of it. Getting off "the wagon" of health habits, makes me better appreciate how much they really do for my mental and physical health.
My daughter is a HUGE Harry Potter fan and loves the movies and the books and everything in between. Such a classic series, and an illustrated book sounds dreamy.
Hooray for a new car!! I've never owned one, either, but with electric that makes so much sense!
Our fridge came with our house and it's old and tiny (an apartment-sized actually), but old appliances just do not die! I'm torn between wanting something new…
