May Goals

Somehow it is already 5 days into May! It was a busy start to May with ALOT on at work and family (Al’s parents and sister) arriving to stay with us for a couple of weeks. So I’ve been a bit delayed doing my April review and May planning.

But this morning I walked to a local park and sat with my EC softbound Hourly and did a whole lot of planning and it was delightful.

April was a month of highs and challenges. On the up side, I got a whole lot of home tasks done (sorted the toy room, bought a second hand dining set which we love), made good progress at work and on my novel, enjoyed lots of sunshine, and saw lots of family and friends. On the downside, it was a busy month, with two weeks of school break for E, and YET we were all sick at various times. So it was a lot to juggle.

My May goals spread

April illness is behind us now however, and May is full steam ahead! I looked at my Q2 goals and ahead to May events and worked out my lists in the categories of Personal, Home and Work, as well as to do items I need to remember.

A few items continue on from April, including:

  • Continue to outline my novel (I’m up to detailed character summaries and detailed plot outline now)

  • Blog 2-3 x per week As a new blog without loads of readers yet (however I do have some- and thank you those who visit!) this does require some intentionality

  • Finish work manuscript I’ve been writing for too long! This has been on the list for many months and I’m determined to finish it in May!

  • Walk and read daily

A few items however, are new:

  • Do daily stretching. My back and neck have been really stiff lately and I’ve decided a regular stretching habit will be helpful

  • Have a solo outing with each kid. While family are staying with us, there is an opportunity to do something one on one with each kid (and also Al, while I think of it). The kids rarely get me on their own, so I think this would be fun.

  • Make the most of an upcoming work trip to… Canada! I will be travelling solo and away for 10 days. It will be hard to be away from the kids for so long (and a long time on planes!), but fun to have kid-free adventures, and also great to lean into work opportunities. This will be my first time to Canada and I’m excited to visit somewhere new.

Your turn. Any exciting goals or events planned for May? I know for Northern Hemisphere readers May is full of end of school year events which is a lot (we have ours in December), but even without that May is somehow always busy in Australia too!
