New planner on the way!

So, I may have given a subtle impression in my posts lately that I’ve been just a little bit overloaded and stressed 😜 One of my comfort activities in times like these is to browse new planners online. (I know, I’m so cool). Lately, even though I’ve been enjoying the weekly overview/planning section of my Curation planner, I really missed having a vertical hourly planner for my weekly view. I love having my week laid out visually on paper, so I can see all the different pieces, where I can put in time blocks for deep work, etc. I tried having this on google calendar but I just really prefer paper.

So, after much browsing online, I decided to buy a shiny new mid-year start planner! Last year I used an Erin Condren softbound vertical hourly lifeplanner, and it was great, but very expensive to ship over. Our exchange rate lately has made that even more crazy expensive. ($140 Aussie dollars for one planner - um, no). A few months ago I discovered a cute Australian online stockist of Erin Condren called Simply Planned, which made ordering the same planner delivered would cost $105. Still expensive, but reasonable. So I purchased a July start, EC vertical hourly lifeplanner, this one. I usually prefer book bound, but they don’t have mid year start softbound, so spiral bound it is.

Plus, because things are THAT busy right now, I also bought two EC petite planners, which are daily, quarterly planners (July-Sept, and Oct- Dec). I love daily planning in a light, portable notebook. Usually a blank page is enough, but this petite planner looks fun and will be helpful as most days are very packed at the moment.

I’ll still use my Curation to do my weekly overview planning, as I find the little column in the EC weekly spreads to be insufficient. And I also prefer Curation’s monthly layout (all the months are together in Curation, which I like). So I guess I’ll do my Annual, Monthly forward calendar planning, and weekly planning in my Curation. I’ll do my start of the Month planning using the EC dashboard, and my weekly scheduling in the lifeplanner, and then my daily planner in the petite planner. Oh and my quarterly planning on a blank page within either Curation or EC.

Now I’m just waiting for my new goodies to arrive. I will report back after the unboxing (I’m sure you’ll all be waiting with bated breath 😂).

Anyone else go crazy on the planning when stressed? Any favourite planners? Paper or digital or both?

Yes, when I am stressed, I definitely lay harder on planning- just for the sake of clearing my head! I have my 2025-2026 monthly planner, my “catch all” notebook, and my daily One.Focus that I just bought for my birthday not too long ago. But I usually get by with the monthly planner and do my daily planning in my accessory notebook.

Your planner is so lovely, a wonderful fresh start.

Ooh I’d like to see your monthly planner and how you use it. A good notebook is such a good option for daily planning, isn’t it. :)

Your new planner is so pretty! Sometimes you need a fresh start of sorts when life is overwhelming and a new planner can give you that vibe.

I used a paper planner for a few years but decided not to order one this year since I wasn’t using the weekly pages. Instead I use the note pages in the back of my 2024 planner for lists, meeting notes, etc. So much of my life happens in outlook so that is my source of truth. I put appts on that calendar as well so I don’t get booked for meetings at that time. For weekends, I use our wall calendar in our kitchen. We don’t have multiple things/day yet so it…

Sounds like a good system- I use Outlook calendar for work too and it’s good for planning my work tasks (and appts during work time), but like something different for personal. Wall calendar is a good idea- that way other family members can see too!
