It’s Saturday 3pm, I’m sitting with a cup of tea, the kids are having screen time, and it’s blog post time, hooray!
E finally recovered and was back at school from mid-week. Such a relief for her to be well again, and somehow no one else is sick, so we are back to normal life, and I’m here for it! She lost weight while sick (ate very little for 11 days), which I hated to see, so we are trying to fatten her up again!
She’s back, baby!
This weekend is the first in a long time which is a quiet, home type weekend with no visitors, travel or other events. Im enjoying it a lot!
So far it has involved:
Got up early (4.20am) because I couldn’t sleep, and drank coffee and watched YouTube videos for 2 hours before anyone woke, and enjoyed the indulgence of it! It’s kind of like my version of staying up late, and so often the media I consume is “productivity” type content occasionally I just like the mindless YouTube content (fave types are true crime updates and planner reviews amongst other clips).
At 8am, I went for a long solo walk in beautiful autumn sunshine, it was so nice and needed because this weekend involves a lot of kid time.
We all (myself, Al and the kids) headed to the library and local playground at about 9.30. This is something we did quite regularly last year, but hadn’t much recently because over the summer we did Saturday morning swimming instead. It was really enjoyable, we each chose a few books, and then the kids did some scooting and playing in the park before it threatened to rain so we headed home.
Reading with O at the library
Scooting fun!
Instead of buying a coffee out I made one from home and brought it in a keep cup. We’ve realised our food/drink spend is WAY higher than it needs to be at the moment, so Al and I are making an extra effort to spend in an intentional way.
Coffee not quite as good as the “real thing” but still good and can’t go past the price!
Al headed off to work at 11.30. After lunch, O and I had a nap (ahhh) then I browsed slow cooker recipes in one of the new library books we borrowed, and made a bit of a meal plan for the week (I am NOT exact about this but I do like to have a few meal ideas, and then mix in a few easy staples on the other days).
The rest of the day is very cruisey, and for me will likely include some fiction writing, some laundry, and maybe reading. Possibly a grocery shop when Al gets home (excited to choose some (frugal) meat and veggies for my slow cooker meals for the week).
Happy Saturday all!
What a nice day! I was waiting and hoping for a nap in there (yay! you got one!) because 4:20 is EARLY (but I can see how you enjoyed the solitude.) Glad your daughter is feeling better!
This sounds...lovely. I enjoy days like this - coffee, some exercise, some rest, some family outings. I'm so glad E is feeling better!
